Ashes nights
And so for the last time this Ashes I have Test Match Special on the radio as I go to bed. It’s been a great series to listen to and not just because England have been so cathartically superior. The TMS commentary team are a class apart but the most fun has been the disrupted nights: staying up later than usual and then waking up at various times to turn the radio on and listen for the first name mentioned to judge how things are going. That more often than not it was Cook or Trott, whose names I’d heard before going to sleep a few hours earlier, made it a routine I’m going to miss.
