Prayer list
Because my memory isn't too great I have a list of things I want to pray for regularly on my bedroom wall. I've just refreshed this list - not really with new things but I've added a bunch of Scriptures to help encourage me in what I'm praying for. I'm hoping that having these verses on my wall will help get them into my head as well - two ways to sanctify myself at the same time!
I want to grow in the grace of praying for four reasons:
1. It will help my relationship with Jesus grow.
2. It will bless others.
3. It will bless me today.
4. It will help me run for Jesus all the days of my life.
You'll notice there's quite a lot of stuff about me. Why? A pastor once told me that praying for myself isn't selfish, it's single-minded. What is my greatest area of influence, what can I most affect for the glory of God? Me! So that should be a priority for me in my praying.
Of course I'm praying for a wife, as mentioned below, but I want it noted that I also pray for my wife, whoever wherever she is, and for me to be a godly husband. That's just one example of many prayers that have an immediate and long-term application. Like I said, this is to be life-long project and I've loads more to learn, but here's what I'll be praying for tomorrow:
- “God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.” (Romans 5:5)
- “The God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him” (Ephesians 1:17)
- “Apart from Me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5)
- “The joy of the Lord is your strength.” (Nehemiah 8:10)
- “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be My witnesses in Bedford and in all Britain and Europe, and to the end of the earth.” (Acts 1:8)
- “Grant to Your servants to continue to speak Your word with all boldness.” (Acts 4:29)
- “Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads, with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness.” (Romans 12:6-8)
- “And they have conquered [the accuser] by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death.” (Revelation 12:11)
- “He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favour from the Lord.” (Proverbs 18:22)
- Friends and family
- Brickhill: Elders, staff, people I've had conversations with recently, 20's, forthcoming events, prophetic
- Nation: Church, Newfrontiers (especially Terry Virgo), Newday, Youth Workers’ Conference that I host
